Lurking In The London Fog...

My half of an art trade with the insanely talented artist Stephanie (FinalFlight) featuring her character Jake, and a wonderful return to traditional medium for me.

In all honesty, I don’t know all that much about Jake (as Stephanie is so very secretive!), but from what she has told me about him and going by the scraps of information I’ve been able to piece together from my regular stalking of her galleries, he’s a very bitter and moody kind of guy. If you haven’t guessed by now, Jake is Jack the Ripper, and I’m guessing that the reason for his bitterness is the fact that he has syphilis. Maybe that’s the motivation for ‘Die hookers! Die!’ Lol.

Aaanyway, Jake is such a cool character (he is so well designed… and I love his hair… I figure I must have a hair fetish) and the way Steph draws him makes me wanna freak out. I’ve wanted to draw him for ages and now I finally have! Woo hoo!

Steph mentioned that she liked the way I draw manic expressions, so I’ve tried to do Jake justice here… he has something along the lines of a snarl crossed with a grimace, and I would have given him a top hat, but, well… lovely, lovely mop of hair…

Btw, my scanner completely killed this. It just doesn’t cope too well with pieces that are dominated by one major colour tone. The original is so much crisper, with nice even highlights and much less stark yellow/green tones. Darn it! *Tells the scanner off for being so lame*

Anyway, I hope you like him Stephanie! I had so much fun working on this!
