Midshipman Jonas

The finished 5” sculpture of the ‘ship’s cat’… Mr Midshipman Jonas (yes, he now has a name). I messed up on the painting to begin with (the original choice of colours didn’t match very well), but thankfully was able to remedy that. I was also very lucky with the eyes in that they didn’t lose their shape on the outside (but warped a little on the inside) and the whiskers, which I am amazed to find are quite robust. Overall, everything came out nicely and he’s now able to stand without support.

So here he is, midshipman Jonas, a cocky little fellow who can be quite unreasonable and rather bossy at times. He joined the Navy under the influence of his father, but is he ready for the bloody nature of war against those enemy dogs? Only time will tell…
