Sooo… I was watching Johnny Depp talking about how the inspiration for Jack Sparrow’s varied hair jangles came from Keith Richard’s tendency to tie things that he acquires in his hair, and I thought, ‘I wanna try that!’ I like the idea of finding things and attaching them in your hair as a sort of memory, and being a collector of all sorts of things, I thought I would try making some sort of hair decoration out of the bits and pieces I had (not without, of course, one of my beloved feathers). In truth, I’ve always wanted to try making some sort of decorative hair charms, so this was a good try-out piece to practice with (especially when figuring out how it might be attached to hair).

So here we have what I now call the ‘;pirate themed’ hair dangle. It’s mostly made to suit my likes, but I figured that if I were to do any more, it would be easy to do different themes or change the objects to suit a certain person. The objects that make up this one are; a skull and crossbones painted woodcock wing feather, a porcupine quill, a metal disk, bone bead, red thread and various small wooden beads, all strung together using some imitation sinew. I nearly also added a wooden carved skull bead and some reindeer hair, but that would probably have been too much. ^_^ There’s a certain knack for attaching this, and it requires that the loop be slipped on first, and then the whole strand braided in with the actual hair. Although that takes some doing to get looking right, it does stay firmly in place, and looks awesome!
As usual, as creator of this piece, yours truly decided to model it in true pirate fashion. Yarrr!

I love the pirate style! Being partial to pirates myself..lmao. It looks pretty simple and sounds pretty simple to 'install'. How easy is it to take out though? Just curious becaue I would love to invest in one or make one myself, but My son well, being the rambunctious 18 monther he is, likes to tug my hair..lol.
