Just a quick thing… I needed a new icon for FA and thought I would try something different. The result was this, a speedily painted image created using blocks of colour and relentless scribbling!

I’ve always been astounded by the digital artists out there who are able to paint using colour alone. They somehow manage to mould seemingly shapeless blobs into amazingly detailed works of art. To do this they must have a very good grasp of colour theory.

Personally, I’ve become used to working with a scanned sketch as a guide, but I must admit that I’m keen to try other methods that say goodbye to the original line work at the end of the painting process or don’t use it at all. I suppose it’s all just a matter of taste and technique. You either ‘under paint’ or ‘over paint’. It just depends on what you feel comfortable with.
